What's the nightlife like in Playa del Inglés?
Playa del Inglés has one of the liveliest holiday bar scenes in Europe, centred on the Yumbo Centrum. The Copacabana sits right in the heart of it — a cocktail bar and entertainment venue known for drag shows, themed nights and a genuinely mixed crowd that loves a proper night out. The Yumbo starts warming up around 9pm and keeps going well into the early hours. Whether you want a relaxed cocktail at the start of the evening or a full night of entertainment, you'll find it here.
Where exactly is The Copacabana in the Yumbo Centre?
We're on the plaza level of C.C. Yumbo, Local 131/21-22, Avenida de España 54, Playa del Inglés, Gran Canaria — 35100. Look for us on the terrace overlooking the central square. Once you're in the Yumbo you'll spot us easily: the tropical branding and the sound of a good time are hard to miss.

The Copacabana is a cocktail bar and entertainment venue in the heart of the Yumbo — one of Europe's most celebrated LGBTQ+ destinations. We're proudly welcoming to everyone. Our crowd is a brilliant mix: gay, straight, couples, solo travellers, first-timers and regulars who've been coming back for years. If you love great cocktails, cabaret and an atmosphere where you can be completely yourself, you'll fit right in. No dress code, no door policy, no attitude.
Do you host drag shows and live entertainment?
Yes — drag performances, cabaret nights and themed events are a big part of what makes The Copacabana worth a visit. We host shows throughout the season, from resident drag acts to special themed evenings. Check the What's On page for upcoming dates, or follow us on Instagram and Facebook where we announce events as soon as they're confirmed.
What cocktails do you serve, and how much do they cost?
We serve over 60 cocktails across six categories: classic cocktails, martinis, spritz, frozen drinks, non-alcoholic cocktails and natural smoothies. Prices start from €7.50. Favourites include the Espresso Martini, Cosmopolitan, Negroni and our signature frozen options. What time does The Copacabana open?
We're open every day from 11am until 1am. Hours can vary on event nights and with the season, so the best way to check is to follow us on socials for the latest. The Yumbo itself gets busiest from around 10pm, so there's no rush — come early for a quieter daytime drink, or arrive later when the atmosphere is in full swing.
Is The Copacabana a good choice for a first night in Gran Canaria?
It's one of the best places to start. The Copacabana is right in the Yumbo Centrum — the social hub of Playa del Inglés — so it's easy to find from most resorts, easy to get to by taxi or a short walk, and gives you an immediate taste of what makes the area special. Great cocktails, a warm welcome and an electric atmosphere. A lot of guests drop in on their first night and make it their regular spot for the rest of the holiday.

I've been coming to Copacabana for the last 3 years, and this place is honestly one of the main reasons I keep coming back! The atmosphere is always fantastic, and the strawberry daiquiris are absolutely amazing. A special mention has to go to Derek, Grant, and Gary, who are all absolutely brilliant. Derek truly goes above and beyond for every customer, and the lengths he goes to make sure everyone is happy and looked after are incredible. Grant and Gary are also fantastic and always make every visit welcoming, enjoyable, and memorable.
The professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail from the team are second to none. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and you genuinely feel valued every time you visit.

We just spent 5 weeks in Playa Del Ingles over Xmas and NY, and discovered Bar Copacabana on our first night. From the first moment we arrived, Grant and team were incredibly welcoming, so much that we made this great fun bar our first stop every time we visited the Yumbo. As well as great service, Grant helped us by providing local knowledge and recommending restaurants etc. We also had a fun time at their Christmas party, sat there in the sun on Christmas Day and enjoyed the fun on NY eve. Most importantly, this bar serves the best quality drinks as opposed to other places where the drinks are strong, but poor quality and leave you feeling dreadful next day. So in summary, this is a bar I cant recommend enough and we would like to thank the entire team for a lovely stay in GC.
